- SIMOSE New Collection Exhibition Part 2 ― Sam Falls, Miwa Komatsu

Simose Art Museum has newly acquired works by three contemporary artists this year: Sam Falls, Tomokazu Matsuyama, and Miwa Komatsu. This two-part exhibition introduces these new acquisitions and their creators. The second part will feature Sam Falls and Miwa Komatsu.
Sam Falls is a contemporary artist who creates paintings composed of floral silhouettes and rich colors by arranging plants and dyes on canvases spread outdoors and exposing them to sunlight, rain, and wind. His approachable style, which evokes the warmth of nature, is certainly appealing. The second part will feature the large-scale work "Spring to Fall", measuring over 45 meters in width, the premiere of three new pieces created on Miyajima in October 2025.
On the other hand, Miwa Komatsu is a contemporary artist who expresses the spiritual world, such as invisible and the energy of life, using kominu (guardian dogs) and sacred beasts as motifs. She has also been active in Hiroshima, interacting with hibakusha and painting live in front of the large torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine. This exhibition introduces her works ranging from recent pieces, including two new acquisitions, to early copperplate prints, arranged in a dialogue with Fall's works.
