Frequently Asked Questions

  • The museum has 73 free parking spaces. Two bus parking spaces are available with advance reservation.

  • The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (admission until 4:30 p.m.).

  • Mondays, end-of-year and New Years holidays (December 30 - January 1), and during exhibition change periods.
    If Monday is a national holiday or substitute holiday, the museum will be open.
    Closures for exhibition changes are posted on the website in advance.

  • Different types of credit cards and payment methods are accepted on the web ticket purchase site and at the museum reception desk. For details, please refer to the Ticket Purchases section.

  • Groups of 20 or more people can receive discounted admission if they apply in advance. Please refer to the Groups, Discounts and Exemptions section for more information on group applications.

  • Admission is free for persons with disability certificates and up to one accompanying person. Please bring proof of disability and present it at the reception desk. For details, please refer to the Groups, Discounts and Exemptions section.

  • Viewing the museum takes about 1.5 hours.

  • You may use a pencil to take notes, but ballpoint pens, fountain pens, and mechanical pencils, which could damage the works, are not permitted. If you would like to borrow a pencil, please ask a staff member at the reception desk or in the exhibition hall. For more information, please refer to the Requests for Visitors section.

  • You may sketch in the exhibition halls, so long as you do not distract or interfere with other visitors. To avoid disturbing other visitors, please refrain from sketching while sitting on the floor or on a chair. You may be asked to move when the hall is crowded.

  • Photography is permitted, but the use of flash and video recording are prohibited. Artworks are covered by copyright laws that protect the rights of their creators. Photographs are for personal, non-commercial use only. Please refrain from uploading photos of artwork to social networking sites.

  • There is a free audio guide that you can listen to on your smartphone. Please use your own earphones or low volume when listening in the exhibition rooms.

  • Yes, you may re-enter the museum by presenting your ticket with the date printed on it. Please inform the reception staff when you leave and re-enter the exhibition halls.

  • SIMOSE French Restaurant is located on the museum grounds, in addition to the museum café in the entrance hall. Admission is not required to enter the restaurant and café. Visitors can enjoy these facilities even if they are not attending an exhibition. For details, please see the Café and Restaurant page.

  • Wheelchairs are available free of charge. Please ask at the reception desk if you wish to use one.

  • Baby strollers available free of charge. Please ask the reception desk if you wish to use one.

  • There is a nursing room in the entrance hall. Diaper changing stations are located in the women’s restroom and multi-purpose restroom in the entrance hall, and in the restroom in the exhibition hall. For details, please see the Facilities page.

  • Lockers that can be used with 100-yen coins are located behind the reception desk in the entrance hall. If you have large items that do not fit in the lockers, please inquire at the reception desk.

  • No. Pets are not allowed. Service dogs are allowed.

  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside, and there is no smoking area on the premises.

  • There is no space for eating lunch at the museum.
